If you have pictures from this event you'd like to see here, e-mail them to Armand. |
On the left, the war college has begun
for the spearman and glaives. On the right, the sword and shield units receive instruction
as a separate group.
At left, the shield walls advance to
engage. Afterwards, we see Duke Kien at right providing additional instruction to the
shieldmen. Duke Kien will be leading Ansteorra's forces at Gulf War in March.
On the left, some of our archers can
be seen at the war college, receiving instruction and encouragement from His Majesty
Gunthar. His Majesty has shown a great interest in our archers and is wisely planning to
make better use of them in the coming war. At right, HE Baron Drake readies Centurion
Romanus for an instructional pickup fight with Dragonetti.
At left, Armand (in the blue &
gold Arthurian tabard) engages Romanus who is accustomed to fighting larger fighters. On
the right, Romanus demonstrates a few of the basics to Dragonetti who appears to be in
retreat. (My sincere "Thanks" go to Centurion Romanus for sharing some of his
time, knowledge & perspective on fighting style for a smaller stature fighter!)
Young Alex of Elfsea is pleased with
his first fighter training that he's just received from Sir Galen of Bristol. (Sir Galen
showed Alex the proper technique to block and parry an opponent who wishes to touch your
nose.) On the right there's Armand Dragonetti, Alex, Austin and Ameline du Bois. (I think
Alex is contemplating an undefended nose. Thank You Sir Galen.)
On the left, His Majesty Gunthar,
surrounded by the Chivalry, has just announced that Baron Alaric Drake (the new King's
Champion) shall be joining their ranks as the newest Knight of the Kingdom. For HE Baron
Drake,......VIVAT! On the left, members of the Chivalry embrace HE Drake, who met the
challenge of lifting Sir Wilhelm von Buch completely off the ground. While that was indeed
amazing, I think Sir Daffydd received more than one kiss from Drake. However, the other
members of the Chivalry did not appear offended.
This was a wonderful event with an outstanding feast. While I don't have photos of her, I
do want to mention Lady Rosalia O Brogan who won the Artisans competition. Lady Rosalia
also gave her exquisitely carved Thistle regalia to His Majesty to bestow on the Baron of
Namron, who was awarded a Thistle for his exceptional work in yet another artisan
endeavor. The regalia had been carved by Lord Darius of the Bells and
was impressive enough to cause the King to praise it in front of those in court, which is
obviously unusual for a piece of regalia. Vivat, Lord
Darius & Lady Rosalia!
